A New Lisa Life

- Thursday, November 29, 2012

In May 2012, I turned 50 years of age.  Of course, it’s a major milestone:  at that time it had been 45 years since I received my first swim certificate (for swimming 15 metres); 32 years since I finished high school, 31 years since I went to my first Olympic games in 1980; 30 years since I became Commonwealth Champion in the 200m and 400m Individual Medley, and 100m Butterfly, the same year I was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).  It’s been 27 years since I was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame; 19 years since I retired from swimming; 18 years since I was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) and 4 years since I was also awarded Officer of the Order of Australia Medal (AO).  keep reading

I realized a few times that jeans can only stretch so far, so when the button was difficult to do up, I'd eat well for a while and lose just enough to stay in my favourites. keep reading
